Board of Directors

The Voters’ Assembly of Good Shepherd, which determines the main policies of the church, elects members to the School Board, which in turn determines the operating policies of the School. All voting members in good standing of Good Shepherd or of member congregations of Lutheran Church-Canada are eligible to be elected by Good Shepherd’s Voters’ Assembly to the School Board.

The School Principal is responsible for the daily operation of the School and the administration of school policies.

The cost of operating the School is supported by the church offerings of all members of Good Shepherd Congregation and by school tuition.

Mrs. Sandy Hill - Chair

Wife and mother of 3, grandmother of 5 as of winter 2011.

Partner and Manager at Erb & Erb Insurance, Kitchener, Ont.

Hamilton Public School Board Trustee (8 years), finance committee chair (6 years), and vice chair (2 years).

Local, regional, and provincial representative for Home and School
at various times.

Most recently, BOD chair at Christ Lutheran School, Kitchener.

Member of Historic St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kitchener ON

Elected to Concordia Academy BOD and serving as Chair since December 2009.


 

Mr. John Nieminen - Vice Chair

Husband and father of 4.

Business professional with focus on international business development, project management and strategic partnerships.

International Business Development, Project Management, and Strategic Partnerships at Canamar (Canamar.com), as well as resource and financial management, cross-disciplined work teams, subcontractors, sales and marketing.

Currently in 1st year as Pastoral Ministry student at CLTS St Catharines ON.

Former BOD member of Christ Lutheran School, Kitchener.

Nieminen children are former students of Christ Lutheran School
Kitchener, currently being homeschooled.

Elected to Concordia Academy BOD and serving as Vice-Chair since December 2009, as chair of Finance Committee since June 2011.


 

Mr. Robert Klages - Treasurer

Husband and father of 6, grandfather of 6.

Accountant at Breaker Technologies Inc, Collingwood ON.

Chair of East District Department for Finance

Member of Christ our Hope Lutheran Church, Collingwood ON

Elected to Concordia Academy BOD and serving as Treasurer since June 2010.

 

Mr. Phil Prozenko - Secretary

Husband and father of 4, originally from Ottawa and now living in Nova Scotia for over 15 years.

Owner, President and Senior Designer, Atlantex Creative Works (atlantexcreativeworks.com), which includes design, graphic production and fabrication services in-house.

Member and chair of Faith Lutheran Church, Dartmouth NS.

Elected to Concordia Academy BOD since December 2009.


 

Mrs. Lois Munz

Wife and mother of 2, originally from Ottawa Valley.

Retired public school JK-6 educator in Ontario schools, including special education, music, and librarian responsibilities, and additional training in Early Childhood Education.

Former Principal/School Developer at Christ our King Lutheran School, Mississauga ON (3 years).

Experience teaching Sunday School, Youth Group, Bible Study.

Long-time member of LWML-Canada (lutheranwomen.ca), having served as Niagara Zone treasurer for 2 years and currently zone president.

Member of Nicaragua Mission Committee, having been there on a mission trip.  Recently visited the Mediterranean and the Holy Land.

Member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington ON

Elected to Concordia Academy BOD and serving since December 2009.  the chair of the Curriculum Committee and of the Ad Hoc Constitution Committee.


 

Mr. Helmut Fittler

Husband and father of 2, grandfather of 4, originally from Yugoslavia then Kingsville ON

Entrepreneur and Developer in the Agricultural and Food Packaging industries.

Currently New Business Development Manager, Weil Foods Ltd.

Member, chair, head elder, and trustee of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Moncton NB

Elected to Concordia Academy BOD and serving since December 2009.

 

Mrs. Sara Winger

Wife and mother of 2, originally from Detroit MI.

LCC Deacon-Teacher (Concordia Ann Arbour, MI) with teaching experience in various contexts, both Lutheran and public schools (inner city/rural in USA and in England).

Additional experience in office work and desktop publishing, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School,

Attended mainly Lutheran Private Schools growing up.

Music teacher, presently operating a Music For Young Children (MYC) program and teaching private piano lessons out of her home.

Member and Sunday School Superintendant at Resurrection Lutheran Church, St Catharines ON.

Elected to the Concordia Academy BOD and serving since December 2009.  Currently the chair of the Planning Committee and serving as Secretary to the BOD since June 2011.


 

Rev. David Smilek

Husband of LCC Deacon-Teacher Lisa Smilek and father of 3 (soon 4), originally from Czech Republic and then Kitchener ON.

Currently Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sudbury ON.

Former Lutheran Church-Canada ABC District missionary at High Level, Alberta.

Member of LCC East District Department for Parish Services.

Special interests include youth work, apologetics and observing
demographic trends.

Elected to Concordia Academy BOD and serving since December 2009.  Currently chair of Personnel Committee.
